Photofacial Results – Before and After

IPL is an intense broad band of non-laser light that contains a number of wavelengths and corrects a number of conditions at the same time, or be directed to certain treatments depending on the light filter used.

Aging, hormones, sun exposure, and other conditions can lead to our developing unappealing red and brown spots on our face, neck, hands and chest.

The red spots usually consist of dilated capillaries and “broken” blood vessels. These areas can be treated well by the use of Intense Pulsed Light treatment. Other options include the 532nm KTP-YAG laser, the 1064nm Nd-YAG laser, as well as the 595 nm pulsed dye laser.

The brown spots can be hormonal (melisma or chloasma) or related to aging and sun exposure (ephalides, lentigines). These can also often be treated by Intense Pulsed Light. Alternatives include Q-switched 1064nm Nd-YAG laser or Chemical Peels
IPL can also be employed for hair removal in patients with lighter skin types.

Often laser and other light treatments are best complemented by other treatments such as in office peels or at home skin care.
